Bird Seed Christmas Ornaments
Looking for a fun activity to do this holiday season? Check out this awesome craft that feeds the birds and your creativity!
Steps:
Start out with 4 cups of the bird seed of your choosing. You will pour this into a large mixing bowl.
Add 3 tablespoons of corn syrup to your bird seed.
Add a half cup of water to the mixture.
Add one packet of unflavored gelatin to the mix.
Add 3/4 cups of flour into your bird seed mixture.
Mix all of your ingredients together well.
Lay out your wax paper on an even surface and pick out the Christmas cookie cutters you want to make ornaments out of.
Spray the inside of your cookie cutters and the wax paper with baking spray. This will help to take the ornaments out of the mold later.
Fill the cookie cutter with your bird seed mixture. Once it is filled, press on the mixture to make sure it is compact, which is necessary for drying.
With a straw, make a hole where you want the ribbon to go. Make sure to leave it in the bird seed while it is drying.
You will let the ornaments set like this for about 3 hours, then you will take the cookie cutter off and take the straw out. Let the ornaments sit overnight like this.
