This is the crown of a Pineapple!

Did you know that pineapples don’t grow on trees? They actually grow out of the ground from a leafy plant that can grow up to 6 feet tall. Interestingly enough, Christopher Columbus actually brought pineapples back to Europe from South America.

There are many benefits to eating pineapple. Many studies have suggested that pineapple, and similar foods help decrease the risk of obesity, diabetes, as well as help with digestion, energy and hair/nail growth. Fresh pineapple is also the only known source of an enzyme called bromelain which is used to reduce swelling and inflammation. So many benefits from one little fruit! Eat up!
