DISCLAIMER – You can try using different varieties, but we found this experiment works best with macintosh apples.
Here is what you do:
Step One – Buy a macintosh apple at the grocery store. It is best if they are a little green.
Step Two – Find or buy some stickers and place them on the less ripe side of the apple. The color could be green or yellow on that side.
Step Three – Place your apple in a well lit window with the sticker side facing the sun. Leave it there for about a week.
Step Four – Remove your stickers to see your new tattoo!
All apples ripen and darken in the sun. For macintosh apples, this causes the green color to change to a red. This color change creates a huge contrast, great for apple tattoos. So use this little experiment to create, eat nutritiously, and share with others the beauty of fall color changes!
