We are always getting requests for training workshops for teachers and for the local Extension faculty/staff/volunteers that can support them. Although there are many, many locally-led workshops regularly happening across the country, it is difficult to meet this demand – especially when those requests are for training workshops for smaller audience of teachers – so, over the past year, the JMG Program Office has been hard at work to meet the need.
Growing to Meet the Need to Reach More Classrooms
This spring we begin development of the Learn, Grow, Eat & GO! Online Curriculum & Teacher Training and we are looking for a select group of teachers (in grades 3-5) to preview the course as pilot testers! We are also seeking youth leaders and local Extension faculty/staff that would also pilot the course and provide feedback that will shape the course that will launch Sept 2016. If selected as a pilot, you would be able to have the preview access to all course content, videos and resources for free!
This new, self-directed and engaging training course for teachers, volunteers and Extension serves as a dynamic professional development opportunity AND a new, multimedia curricular option for the new research, evidence-based Learn, Grow, Eat & Go! curriculum. The online curriculum & training will follow a series of easy-to-follow, weekly modules/lessons that let you actually see how to implement the research/evidence-based program over 10 weeks.
If you are interested in piloting the online curriculum & training, here’s what you need to know:
1. The “Course Intro” and “Week 1″ modules will be available for pilot the week of March 1.
2. Individuals piloting will review content (and if possible, implement lessons with group of students) and complete a provided brief feedback form within 10 days.
3. Subsequent modules will be made available to pilots on a weekly basis. Individuals piloting will review them complete brief feedback form within 10 days of receiving them.
