The arrival of summer brings one of our newest student workers, Antoinette Morris! She is our new conference and event coordinator. Antoinette will be helping behind the scenes with many of our conferences and events within the Junior Master Gardener program. We are thrilled to benefit from Antoinette’s organizational and people skills.
Antoinette is a senior horticulture major at Texas A&M University from Houston, Texas (WHOOP). She is very involved with Fish Camp, which is a 4 day orientation program that welcomes the freshmen class to Texas A&M University. Antoinette has been in a leadership position in Fish Camp for 3 years now and enjoys the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the incoming class. She is also involved with Chi Alpha, which is a Christian organization on A&M’s campus that reaches out to Christians and non-Christians and bring them in fellowship with God and other Christians. In the Fall Antoinette will be the leader of her own small group within this organization.
After graduation, Antoinette dreams of starting up her own non-profit that will build community gardens in food deserts, which are areas with little to no access to healthy and affordable fresh produce. She wants her non-profit to empower these neighborhoods and teach them the importance of gardening and knowing where your food comes from. In her spare time, Antoinette enjoys dancing, listening to music, going to mic check poetry, going to art galleries, spending time with friends and family, cooking and crocheting.
Welcome to our team, Antoinette!
